Yang and Olivia were both students at the University of Cincinnati when they first met. At the time, Yang was a sought after violinist and a prodigy from China. Olivia was an accomplished pianist combining both scholarly and concert activities. While in school, they have each won prizes in competitions, including gold medals in Chinese competitions and an award in the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (Yang). Their life coincided when Yang turned pages for Olivia at her performance and right there decided to take her as his wife. Since then, they have not only pursued fine solo careers but also performed very successfully together as a couple, sharing stories of love with audiences through their music.
In 2013/2014 Yang and Olivia were the featured recitalists, performing in 22 cities across the United States to greatest success, receiving consistently Standing Ovations. In the forthcoming season 2015/2016 the duo will embark for an extensive tour in China where they will appear in recital and in concert with orchestra (double concerto)
In previous seasons the duo has appeared internationally and in the United States highlighted by performances at major festivals and venues, such as Ravinia Festival, Kennedy Center, Washington, DC, Oficina Music Festival in Brazil, Algave Music Festival in Portugal, and throughout their homeland China. They believe music sharing is sharing of life and not just a demonstration of technical brilliance and virtuosity. Ultimately, with their performances they want to also communicate their message of faith, love and joy.
